CASE STUDY: Earth Contact Products’ Solution for King Mesa Gin Using Terra-Lok Resin

The Challenge

When the King Mesa Gin in Lamesa, Texas, faced substantial water intrusion issues within its critical “press pit” area, Earth Contact Products (ECP) was called upon to provide a reliable solution. The pressing problem threatened the safety of personnel and the operational integrity of equipment and products. These were pivotal concerns for this leading organic cotton producer, especially with the impending harvest.

ECP’s Response

ECP partnered with WTX Foundation Repair and mobilized their expertise in waterproofing solutions to answer the call for a robust solution. After a thorough assessment, ECP recommended the Terra-Lok™ 120 polyurethane injection solutions from NCFI Geotechnical. Over 400 gallons of Terra-Lok™ Resin were strategically injected to create a seamless, resistant barrier along the press pit walls. Despite complexities with the concrete structure, ECP’s team remained responsive. They adjusted plans to focus on wall sealing initially and later addressing floor gaps in a phased approach.

The Outcome

Through ECP’s collaboration with WTX Foundation Repair, King Mesa Gin witnessed a day even in the face of significant rainfall—an undeniable testament to the value of ECP’s solution. By safeguarding the facility ahead of the harvest season, ECP ensured operational continuity and reinforced King Mesa Gin’s reputation as an industry leader committed to excellence and innovation.
