Pepsi Bottling Plant Uses PolyPier to Repair the Uneven Concrete Floor

Problem: Uneven Concrete

PolyPier Contractors repair sunken concrete at a Pepsi plant.

Below the Pepsi bottling warehouse, erosion swept away the Earth beneath concrete slabs, leaving the concrete very uneven. This erosion caused the concrete slabs to become uneven. When forklifts and heavy machinery are continuously placed atop unsupported slabs, the slabs rock up and down. When a forklift carrying a product drives over the unsupported slabs, it can cause the forklift to jar. Jarring is uncomfortable for the driver and also costs the plant money in ruined product. After continuous traffic over these slabs, which rock back and forth, the slabs will eventually break or crack, also known as joint spalling.

Solution: PolyPier to Correct Uneven Concrete

The Pepsi bottling plant hired Eddie Bolton and his company, Mid-South Concrete Leveling, to repair the concrete slabs. Once Bolton saw the issues the concrete slabs were experiencing at the bottling plant, he decided to use a new technology: PolyPier Geotechnical Polyurethane Foam. Once they decided to use PolyPier, they “cleaned out all the joints, removed the debris, drilled 5/8-inch holes about every three to four feet, and pumped in PolyPier™ void fill foam to fill the joints.” There was minimal downtime at the bottling plant due to the PolyPier’s rapid set time.

Results: Happy Customers

Pepsi was so satisfied with the work Mid-South Concrete Leveling produced using PolyPier that they hired them again to patch cracks in other slabs. Bolton chose PolyPier and his company because, “it’s faster, requires less set-up time, requires minimal clean-up after the work is complete, and provides long-term stability for stabilizing concrete floor joints.”. Bolton said they have already received more work requests from Pepsi because of the great work they had done previously.
